Understand your business with Insights

Forecast inventory, see what rents out most and least, and find your most profitable products, all from real usage and QuickBooks data.

Insights

Insights is where you step back from day-to-day scanning and look at the business: what your inventory will look like next month, what actually rents, and what makes you money. It has three sections, all on the Growth plan, see Billing and plans.

Inventory Forecast

Pick one or more products to chart their projected available count day by day, starting from what is in your warehouse right now. As the timeline moves forward, a scheduled order reduces the line on its checkout date and a unit already out restores it on its expected return date, whether that unit is tied to an order or was just checked out directly. Turn on a low-stock threshold line under Advanced settings to get a warning list of anything projected to run out.

See what rents out the most and least, how long a rental typically lasts, and how heavily each product is used, over a lookback window you control (30 to 180 days). Click any column to sort, so the same table answers different questions:

  • Sort by Rentals to see your most and least popular equipment.
  • Sort by Avg. duration to see what tends to go out for a weekend versus a month.
  • Sort by Utilization to see what share of your owned units are actually out with a customer during the window. Low utilization on something you own a lot of is a candidate to own less of; utilization near 100% on something is a sign you might be turning away business for it.

Product Analytics

Revenue and margin per product, pulled from your real QuickBooks invoice history, so it needs QuickBooks connected, see Connect QuickBooks. Two numbers are shown for anything with a unit cost entered (see Set up your product catalog):

  • Margin: of every dollar this product earned in the window, how much was profit.
  • ROI: for what you spent buying this equipment, how much has it earned back in the window. Durable equipment gets rented out again and again, so this can run well past 100% and that is the point, not a warning sign.

A product with no unit cost entered still shows its revenue, just without a margin or ROI figure.
