Dispatch driver routes

Assign delivery and pickup stops to drivers, reorder active routes, watch live locations, and handle exceptions.

Open Dispatch

Admins use Dispatch to prepare and monitor daily routes. Choose a date to see unassigned delivery and pickup stops, one queue for each TrackDME user with driver access, the live driver map, and alerts that need attention.

Edit delivery details

Click Edit delivery details on a stop to change its address or phone number. The new details apply to that delivery or pickup and appear in the driver's companion app. Select Update the customer's default address too or Update the customer's default phone number too when future stops for that customer should use the same information. Leave those options clear when the change is only for this visit.

TrackDME validates an edited street address before saving it. A phone number is optional, but the customer cannot receive a route text without a valid number.

Assign and order stops

  1. Drag an unassigned stop into a driver's queue.
  2. Drag a stop above or below another stop to change the visit order.
  3. Drag a stop to a different driver when the assignment changes.
  4. Drag a stop back to Unassigned to remove it from a route.

TrackDME checks the stop's street address before it can be assigned. If the address is missing or incomplete, the Where does this go? editor opens immediately so you can correct it. Save the address and TrackDME completes the original route assignment automatically. A phone number is optional and does not block assignment.

The driver receives a push notification when an active assignment, visit address, phone number, or order changes. Delivery and pickup for the same order can be assigned to different drivers.

Notify the customer

After the driver starts the route and sends a location, click Notify customer on the assigned stop. TrackDME sends one text for that delivery or pickup with a private link to the current ETA. The button changes to Customer notified and cannot be used again for that stop. Delivery and pickup are separate stops, so each can receive one message.

If the stop has no valid phone number, Dispatch shows No phone and no text can be sent. Only send an operational text when the customer has agreed to receive delivery updates.

Watch active routes

Every geocoded route stop appears as a numbered dot on a road map. Each route has its own color and a curved dotted guide through the remaining stops in queue order. For an active route with a current vehicle location, the guide starts at the vehicle. The initial view shows at least a 50-mile radius around that vehicle and widens when a stop is farther away. The guide connects points only and is not a driving-directions recommendation. Completed and skipped stops stay visible as muted dots but are left out of the remaining route guide.

A driver appears on the map after tapping Start route in the companion app and allowing location. TrackDME sends the current location immediately, then accepts background batches about once per minute when iOS, permissions, and connectivity permit. Select the date and use the driver queues alongside the map to understand the next planned stop.

TrackDME creates a possible speeding alert only after two consecutive accurate readings exceed the company threshold. Treat this as an operational signal, not as proof of a traffic violation. Configure the threshold in Mobile operations.

Handle exceptions

Driver reports appear in Needs attention and include unavailable customers, partial delivery or pickup, wrong or missing equipment, refused equipment, damage, and unexpected pickups. Route alerts and recent locations are kept for the retention period shown in Mobile operations.

See Run routes in the companion app and Assign mobile roles and rules.
